So, I've been binging on Gossip Girl lately while I wait for Netflix to bring me a new guilty pleasure, and it's made me miss my high school uniforms. I don't know why, because I did not accessorize my looks with Chanel and we had this rule about skirts having to touch the ground when we kneeled, but enough time has passed since then that I can now totally convince myself that I looked exactly like Blake Lively.
Anyway, when my inner Serena Van der Woodsen saw this Derek Lam shirt/ skirt/ shirtdress/ shirtskirtdress/ masterpiece in the window, I basically died. It's a current, unique take on the classic schoolgirl look that doesn't make me look like I'm out and about in my Britney Spears Halloween costume.
Bring the schoolgirl look into 2016 by pairing it with over-the-knee boot/sock options instead of to-the-knee like you did back in the day. Skip the headbands, ponytails, half-updos and glitter hairspray, and opt for a deep lip color and polished hair to keep the look updated.
